Stamps of the World
by Gene Condon

Reprinted from "Crown Jewels of the Wire", May 2001, page 10

Stamps of the World can provide a specialty collection which is an appropriate go-with hobby for insulator collectors. Thousands of stamps from hundreds of countries show insulators, sometimes very prominently such as this month's cover on the preceding page [below], sometimes requiring a good eye, as on a two cent U. S. stamp issued on March 29th, 2001 pictured below. Spotting them is fun!

There's the international aspect, with lots of opportunities to learn geography, history and cultural backgrounds. There's the dazzling array of colors and hues, membership in the world's largest hobby, the joys of the search and the discovery, the numerous clubs and shows, multitudes of books, magazines and papers, the good friends with so many different guests. Sound similar?

Insulator stamps and related items are sometimes for sale at insulator shows. Why not acquire a few for a "conservation piece" frame in your hobby room or why not get "hooked".

Thank you to Jill Meier for digging out a picture of this new U.S. two cent stamp. Editor's post office is not carrying them yet.
